Renfrew OPP Weekly News

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 200 calls for service during the previous week.

Domestic Disputes

Renfrew and Arnprior OPP officers responded to seven domestic disputes during the past week. One male was charged with three counts of assault and one count of uttering threats. No other criminal offences occurred.

Break and Enter

The building that houses the canteen at the White Lake Community Centre was broken into. A window was forced open and pop was stolen. The break in was discovered on Friday March 4 at 9pm. There are no suspects. Provincial Constable Tamara Dube is investigating.

Frauds

Seven people reported receiving fraudulent calls from someone pretending to be associated with the Canada Revenue Agency during the past week. The caller threatens you will be arrested or some other serious action taken if you fail to provide funds to them to pay “taxes owed”. Call the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre to report these frauds at 1-888-495-8501.

Youth Charged for Breach of Probation Order

On Saturday March 5 shortly after 11pm Provincial Constable Tony Gardiner stopped a vehicle for a traffic offence. A passenger in the vehicle was found to be breaching two conditions of his probation order. A 17-year-old male from McNab Braeside Township was issued an appearance notice to attend Youth Court in Renfrew on April 20 to answer to the two charges. The Youth cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Public Intoxication

One female was arrested and charged after officers responded to a call about a female walking in traffic in Renfrew on Tuesday March 1 at 7:15pm. Provincial Constable Chris Triemstra located the female at MacEwen’s Gas Bar on Raglan St. Norma MCCULLOCH 51 of Renfrew was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. She was held in custody until sober and issued a provincial offence notice for the offence.

Mischief

A mailbox on Burnstown Road was damaged overnight on February 29. There are no suspects.

A van was damaged on Wednesday March 2 shortly before 11pm. The van was parked on the street on Allan Drive in Arnprior. Paint was poured on the passenger side and windshield and then two males were seen running away. Sergeant John Birmingham is investigating.

A home on Wilfred Cres in Arnprior was damaged with an air rifle. The owner discovered an air rifle pellet near the back of the home. Damage was then observed to the siding and to a shed. A suspect was identified and spoken to. No charges were laid. Provincial Constable Denys Baranovskiy investigated.

On March 5 several vehicle parked on Allan Drive in Arnprior had mustard poured on them. The damage happened between 7:30-8:45pm. There are no suspects.
