(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 160 calls for service during the previous week.
Domestic Disputes
Renfrew and Arnprior officers investigated 15 domestic disputes during the past seven days. One male was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking and one male was charged with uttering a threat. No other criminal offences occurred.
Impaired Driver
One male is facing charges after police responded to a driving complaint in Renfrew on Thursday March 10 at 10:25pm. A vehicle drove through an intersection and stopped on the sidewalk at Stewart St and Tasse Ave in Renfrew. Officers attended and arrested the male driver for impaired care or control of a motor vehicle. Following breath tests at the detachment Kenneth DAGENAIS 53 of Renfrew was charged with impaired care or control and over 80mgs care or control of a motor vehicle. He was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on April 6. Provincial Constable Marc Bennett investigated.
Theft and Property Damage
A thief or thieves damaged coin operated dispensing machines at the Four Seasons Car Wash on Madawaska Blvd in Arnprior. They stole the contents which included car cleaning clothes and air fresheners valued at approximately $100. They were unsuccessful in stealing money from the cash box in the machine. They also attempted to gain access to an office, but were only able to damage the door handle and could not get inside. The theft happened between 6-10 March. Provincial Constable Dallas MacLeod is investigating.
Thefts from Vehicles
Two youths were arrested after OPP officers responded to a suspicious persons call on Gordon Ferguson Pl in Arnprior March 13 at 12:35am. The caller observed two youth attempting to open car doors in the area. Officers located and arrested the males after finding stolen items from vehicles in their possession. One 16-year-old male was warned. One 17-year-old male was not charged but diverted to a charge diversion program. Provincial Constable David Ladd investigated.
Breach Probation Charges
Police arrested one youth and laid several breach of probation charges after responding to a mischief complaint on Saturday March 12. The complainant reported at 9:50pm someone throwing snowballs and rocks at their home in McNab Braeside Township near Arnprior. Officers located several youth nearby and learned one of the males was breaching several conditions of his probation. He was arrested and searched. Officers located a bb pistol gun and a quantity of illegal drugs in his possession. He was charged with 4 counts of breach of probation, one charge of possession of a schedule one drug, and one charge of carrying a concealed weapon. He was held in custody for a bail hearing. Under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act he cannot be identified. Provincial Constable Sarah Turcotte investigated.
Don’t Be Tricked by Fraudsters
The OPP are warning citizens to be wary of anyone calling you looking for personal information such as your social insurance number (SIN), banking information, credit card numbers or any other financial information. Fraudsters are very busy at this time of year pretending to be with the Canada Revenue Agency and seeking payments or personal information. The OPP recommend you never provide this type of personal information over the phone to anyone who has contacted you. If in doubt, hang up and call the government agency yourself to make enquiries.
