Renfrew OPP Weekly News

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 172 calls for service during the previous week.

Wanted Male Arrested and Released

An update to the search for a male wanted on an arrest warrant for failing to remain at the scene of a collision, he has been found and arrested. Patrick McPHIE 21 of Pontiac Que. was arrested in Quebec and transported to bail court in Ontario on April 6. He is charged with failing to remain at a collision causing bodily harm and take motor vehicle without consent after a collision on Raglan St S in Renfrew on Thursday March 31 where a pedestrian was struck at a crosswalk. He was released on a recognizance and will appear in court in Renfrew on April 20. The elderly female victim was treated in hospital for serious injuries. Domestic Disputes

Renfrew and Arnprior officers responded to five domestic disputes during the past week. One female was charged with failing to comply with a probation order and trespass at night. One investigation is continuing, and no other criminal offences occurred.

Thefts

Renfrew officers are investigating after a blue ray player and several movies were stolen from a Renfrew residence. The victim noticed the items missing on Saturday April 2. There is a suspect in the case, Provincial Constable Mark Bennett is investigating.

Police are investigating a theft reported to them on April 5. A home care company called the Renfrew OPP after a client reported cash was stolen from them. A suspect was identified, however the victim did not wish to pursue charges. The investigation is continuing to determine if there are other victims. Provincial Constable Mark Bennett is investigating.

A wallet was stolen from a residence in Renfrew. The victim called the OPP on Tuesday April 5. The theft happened in early March and a suspect has been identified. Provincial Constable Mark Bennett is investigating.

Giant Tiger in Renfrew was the victim of theft caught on video. Employees called the OPP on Friday April 8 after observing a female on video concealing merchandise in a purse and leaving the store making no attempt to pay for the items. The female has been identified, the stolen property was located at a local pawn shop and charges are pending. Provincial Constable Patrick O’Connor is investigating.

Break, Enter and Theft

On Saturday April 9 OPP officers responded to a break in at the Laundry Mat in the Arnprior Mall. The door from inside the mall to the Laundry Mat was forced open sometime overnight. Once inside a coin operated dispenser was forced open and coins and laundry detergent was stolen. There are no suspects. Also inside the mall, the owner of E-steam reported their kiosk was damaged and products stolen. Several of the glass tops were smashed to gain access. Provincial Constable Dallas MacLeod is investigating.

Sexual Assault Investigation

Renfrew OPP members are investigating after a female teen reported being sexually assaulted by a family member. The investigation began on Thursday April 7. Workers from Family and Children’s Services are involved in the investigation. Provincial Constable Colleen McGrath is leading the investigation.
