Renfrew OPP Weekly News

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to 263 calls for service this past week.

Domestic Disputes/Assaults

During the past week officers from the Renfrew OPP investigated 7 domestic disputes, 6 family disputes, 2 assaults and three harassment calls. Charges were laid in two of the domestic disputes. One male was charged with aggravated assault, overcome resistance by attempting to choke/suffocate/strangle, possession of schedule II substance for two counts, mischief, uttering threats and three charges of failing to comply with his recognizance. In another domestic a male was charged with one count of assault.

Break and Enters/Thefts

Police investigated three break and enters and thirteen thefts. On the 19th of July 2016, a garage was entered on Raglan Street North in the Town of Renfrew. A 12volt Milwaukee cordless drill was stolen with 2 batteries and a charger, along with a Master Craft air drill. On the 21st of July 2016, a motor vehicle was stolen from a parking garage on Elgin Street West in Arnprior, the vehicle is a blue 2014, Hyundai Sante Fe plate 27LN55 Ontario marker, as well as a Garmin GPS was stolen from a separate vehicle. Police also investigated a break and enter on Hydro Dam Road in Greater Madawaska on the 25th of July 2016.
