(TAY TOWNSHIP) – On Saturday September 23, 2016 at approximately 11:05 p.m. officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE check at the intersection of Highway 12 and Triple Bay Road in Tay Township, ON.
At approximately 11:45 p.m. a Ford pickup truck approached the RIDE check in a manner that brought attention to the officers. Upon speaking to the male driver, the officer determined that he was under the influence of alcohol. The male driver was arrested for Impaired Driving and transported to the Southern Georgian Bay OPP detachment for further tests.
As a result of these tests, Remi Joseph THIBEAULT (age 55) of Tay Township, ON has been charged with:
Driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 ml of blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Driving while ability impaired contrary to the criminal Code of Canada
The accused also received a 90 day automatic driver’s licence suspension and had his vehicle impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on October 6, 2016 in Midland, ON.
