(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On December 14, 2013 at approximately 1:20 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) R.I.D.E. team were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Highway 7 near the Guelph-Woolwich Townline in Guelph-Eramosa Township. At this time and location officers investigated the driver of a 2003 Chevy that entered into the checkpoint. Police determined that the driver had been drinking and showed signs of impairment. He was taken to the Fergus Detachment for the purpose of providing a breath sample which he refused to do.
The Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Baris Barsh Namli aged 29 of Guelph has been charged with Impaired Driving and Refuse to Provide Breath Sample contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on January 10, 2014 to answer to the charges.
