The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 62 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Four people were arrested.
Man and Woman Charged with Drug Possession CK15007899
The Chatham-Kent police have charged a man and woman following a traffic stop in Chatham.
Last night around 8:30 p.m. an officer on general patrol observed the man fail to stop for a stop sign on Baldoon Road near Partridge Crescent. As the officer activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop he observed a clear plastic bag being thrown out the driver’s window. The officer approached the vehicle as it pulled over and retrieved the bag from the roadway which contained marijuana.
Through investigation, the officer further learned that the man was currently bound by conditions not to possess drugs or drug paraphernalia.
Anthony Romano, 25 years, of Pecanwood Drive in Kingsville was charged with drug possession and two counts of failing to comply. He was released with conditions pending a future court date of April 9, 2015.
Vanessa Eltervoog, 22 years, of Francis Avenue in Blenheim was charged with drug possession. She was released with conditions pending a future court date of April 16, 2015.
Woman Charged with Theft CK15007864
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a woman in connection with a shoplifting complaint yesterday afternoon in Chatham.
Shortly after 1:00 p.m. the woman attended Walmart on St. Clair Street and concealed various items. She left the store without making any attempt to pay for the merchandise valued at approximately $58.00.
Eleonora Kowalczyk, 74 years, of Homestead Crescent in Chatham was charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. She was released with conditions pending a future court date of May 7, 2015.
Man Charged with Trespassing CK15007875
Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a residence on Queens Line in regards to an unwanted man.
At this time, a 53-year-old woman reported that a family member was no longer welcome at her house and was refusing to leave.
Officers escorted the 33-year-old Chatham man off the property. He was issued a ticket for failing to leave premises when directed as per the Trespass to Property Act.
Traffic Enforcement CK15007851
Yesterday, officers conducted radar enforcement on Charing Cross Road. A total of eleven motorists were stopped and charged with speeding.
