(QUINTE WEST, ON) – On December 8th, 2016, at approximately 11:40am an officer from the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting a Focused Patrol on Suspended Drivers. During the course of the patrol the officer did a check of a motor vehicle on Glen Miller Road. The check showed that the owner of the motor vehicle was a suspended driver. The officer followed the vehicle onto Highway 401 east bound and attempted to stop the vehicle.
The suspect did not stop for police and continued east bound on the 401. During the attempted stop the officer was able to identify the driver who resided in Belleville.
A short time later officer’s attended the vehicle owner’s residence in Belleville. Officer’s attempted to arrest 58 year old Raymond Harold BAKER, during the arrest the male attempted to flee from police.
As a result of the investigation the 58 year old Belleville man was charged with:
Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer
Resist Peace Officer
Driving while under suspension x 4 under the Highway Traffic Act
The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of January 12, 2017, at the Ontario Court of Justice 15 Bridge Street East, Belleville.
