Ramsey SAFIEH Tracked Down By K9 Now Facing Numerous Charges

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – City of Kawartha Lakes (CKL) officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle early this morning, at approximately 1:05am, in Fenelon Falls for a Highway Traffic Act infraction.

The driver and vehicle fled the scene of the traffic stop prior to police completing the roadside investigation.

The vehicle was pursued a short distance, but the pursuit was terminated by the OPP due to safety concerns. The vehicle was located a short time later abandoned, just north of Lindsay. An OPP canine track was initiated and at approximately 4:20 am the driver, Ramsey SAFIEH, 30 years old of Sutton, was arrested.

The accused was held for a bail hearing this morning and charged with the following offences:

Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle Contrary to section 249(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)

Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer Contrary to section 249.1(1) CCC

Obstruct Peace Officer Contrary to section 129(a) CCC

Personation with Intent to Avoid Arrest Contrary to section 403(1)(d) CCC

Fail to Comply with Undertaking Contrary to section 145(3) CCC

Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine Contrary to section 4(1) CDSA

Breach of Probation Contrary to section 75 of the Provincial Offences Act

Driving While Under Suspension Contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act
