(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP)- On November 23, 2015 at approximately 9:30 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a two vehicle collision at Wellington Road 124 and Wellington Road 32, Guelph-Eramosa Township involving a 2003 Toyota and possibly a Hyundai Elantra.
Police arrived and only one driver remained at the scene. Police spoke with the male driver of the Toyota and believed he had consumed alcohol. A roadside screening device was utilized and the driver failed the test. He was arrested and transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.
His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
48-year-old Rajnikant PATEL of Cambridge has been charged with Care or Control Over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on January 15, 2016.
