R.I.D.E. RESULTS IN SEVERAL CHARGES

(CALEDON, ON) – On September 11th, 2014 at 4:15 pm, Community Response Unit (CRU) officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E. (Reducing Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot check on Heart Lake Road near Boston Mills Road. Upon speaking with the driver of a Dodge Caravan, the officers detected a strong odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath and the

officers made further observations that were indicators of a person under the influence of alcohol.

The officer then demanded the driver produce a sample of his breath into the roadside screening device. The test registered a fail and the male was transported to Detachment. During the course of the investigation, the officers located a quantity of alcohol inside the motor vehicle

In conclusion, James Michael MARINO, 29, of Caledon was arrested and charged with Operate Motor Vehicle Over 80. He is also charged with offences under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario and the Liquor Licence Act.

The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on October 9, 2014.
