(GUELPH, ON) – On January 12, 2017 at approximately 2:45 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6 near Laird Road, Guelph. A man driving a Dodge van was observed at a speed well above the posted speed limit and was locked on radar at approximately 135 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. A traffic stop was performed and the driver could not provide proof that the vehicle was insured.
38-year-old Qing WANG of Mississauga was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and Driving without Insurance contrary to the Compulsory Insurance Automobile Act. He will appear in Guelph Court on March 1, 2017.
