On 29DEC15 during the evening hours, a 35 year old Owen Sound man attended a friend’s residence in the 200 block of 8th Street E, bringing with him some drugs and a 10 week old puppy. The man proceeded to ingest some cannabis and opiates at the apartment. While he was doing this, the puppy soiled the apartment floor. The man became enraged and proceeded to severely beat the dog. This upset the friend who caused the police to be notified. The man was located and arrested. A small quantity of drugs was located. The puppy was taken to a vet at which time it was determined that it sustained serious but not life threatening injuries. The man must now answer to a charge of animal cruelty and two charges of drug possession. He was held for a bail hearing scheduled for the following day.
