On December 21 2014 at approximately 6:00pm witnesses were alerted to the sound of a crash. Witnesses then observed a 2007 black Ford F150 drive into a fence, not once but twice.
Police were called to the Westside location and investigated a 37 year old Owen Sound male who had driven into a fence and hit a parked vehicle. As a result, the male was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Subsequent breath samples revealed that the accused had 4.5 times the legal limit of alcohol in his system. The accused was given a January 8, 2015 court date.
This was the third impaired arrest this weekend and even though it may seem that drinking and driving is on the increase it may actually be that the public is becoming more involved. All three arrests were the result of information received from the public.
A/Sgt Sullivan stated; “I think this past weekend is a great example of the police and the public working together effectively.â€
