(HUNTSVILLE, ON) On Tuesday December 17, 2013 just after 3:00pm Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Huntsville Fire were advised of a propane truck that had gone into a hydro pole on Centre Street near Payne Drive in the town of Huntsville. The pole broke causing the hydro lines to hang over Centre Street. The power was immediately shut off for safety of the public.
Investigation found that the driver had lost control on an icy section of the road then slid into the ditch hitting the hydro pole. The driver Shawn PEDERSON (29yrs) of Gravenhurst has been charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
The road will remain closed until the propane truck can be removed, and the pole replaced and power restored. Lakeland Power is currently working on getting pole replaced and power up and running in that area.
There were no injuries.
