Project safe schools – SAFETY OVER CONVENIENCE

We are heading into day four of back to school. In the first three days of Guelph Police stepping up enforcement in an attempt to make school areas safer for everyone, it has been busy. So far, police have issued 40 HTA tickets; 35 for speeding and 5 for disobey sign. Police have also issued 90 warning and information pamphlets to the public in an attempt to educate. Enforcement alone is only a small part of the safety plan; the community holds the keys to the rest. Officers will be continuing to monitor school zones over the coming school weeks, conducting both enforcement and education of motorists both travelling in the area, and parents dropping their kids off at school.
