Press Release – 10 November 2014 to 16 November 2014

Snow is here, it is in your laneway and on your sidewalks. We all have to shovel it somewhere, but, you cannot shovel it back onto the road. It is an offence under the Highway Traffic Act to deposit snow on the road. I am not talking about a little from your snow blower or plow I am talking about the big piles and ridges of snow you sometimes see people putting on the road. It is an offence because it creates a dangerous situation. Someone striking the pile of snow could then lose control of their vehicle. Don’t risk hurting someone and don’t risk a $110 ticket, throw your snow on your lawn.

8:17 am police received a call in regards to a scam similar to one we have reported in the past. It is similar to the grandparent scheme where you get a call from someone pretending to be your child or grandchild and are in trouble. They need a sum of money to get out of jail or for legal representation and need it sent by Western Union. Sometimes a second person will call back pretending to be a lawyer and give you instructions and ask you not to call the parents. Don’t fall for this, save your money, call your grandchild or child or the parents and verify the story.
