(Prescott, Ont.) – Between September 26th and October 3rd, the Prescott Office of the Grenville Ontario Provincial Police responded to 112 general occurrences: 43 Prescott, 24 Augusta Township, 29 in Edwardsburgh Township, 15 on Highway 401 and 1 on Highway 416.
Police responded to four motor vehicle collisions with no serious injuries.
Drivers are reminded to avoid distracted driving. Distracted driving refers to all forms of distracted or inattentive driving, such as adjusting a vehicle’s entertainment or GPS unit or stereo, eating and drinking, using a hand-held device, self-grooming or tending to children in the backseat etc. Drivers need to remember that the true danger to public safety lies in the distraction, not the device. Every driver has a responsibility to direct their entire attention to driving safely.
At approximately 9am on September 26th, Jason GRAHAM, age 44, of St. Catharines Ontario was stopped for speeding on Highway 401, near the Prescott exit. The driver was charged with speeding and with care and control of a motor vehicle with over 80 mgs of alcohol.
The public are a reminded that drinking and driving can occur at any hour. If you suspect someone is driving impaired, contact 911 immediately. Help keep our roadways safe!
