(PEMBROKE, ON) – On March 08, 2016 the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a silver BMW that was being driven at high rate of speed on Mary Street in the City of Pembroke. The driver, who was the only occupant of the motor vehicle, was arrested after police found he was subject to two Canada-wide driving prohibitions. He was also found to be in possession of drugs. As a result 20 year old Spencer POSTHUMUS of Pembroke was charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). He was also charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
Driving While Disqualified – 2 counts
Fail to Comply with Probation – 2 counts
Fail to Comply with Recognizance
He was also charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA) and with the following Highway Traffic Act offences:
Use plate not Authorized for Vehicle
Drive Motor Vehicle – No Permit
He was held for a bail hearing on March 9, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Pembroke.
