At today’s OPP costing meeting It was revealed that the Wingham Police had prepared a plan several years ago to expand to Blyth and East-Wawanosh. This is contrary to the police board vehemently denying this (caught on video).
It is believed that several years ago the Wingham police decided to expand. To accomplish this they increased patrol hours outside of Wingham to get all the officers on the Sunshine list, to bank hours, and make it as expensive as possible for the OPP 3 year transition contract. After that 3 year contract, Wingham policing cost should drop down the $355/property average.
