Police Warn Of Vehicle Entries

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) – On Friday January 29, 2016, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from a resident in the Bornholm area who reported the theft from an unlocked vehicle.

Investigation revealed that sometime between 10 p.m. on Thursday January 28th and 7:30 a.m. on Friday January 29th an unknown person(s) entered the victim’s vehicle, rummaged through it and removed a wallet containing personal identification. A check with neighbouring residences revealed that numerous other unlocked vehicles had also been entered.

While the Perth County OPP is continuing to investigate this incident, they are reminding the community that theft from motor vehicles is an ongoing crime which directly impacts victims and places a strain on valuable police resources. This type of crime is not new, but it is often preventable through community engagement.
