(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) – Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report that a 2003 Ford van was stolen on February 2, 2017 from a farm on Wellington Road 87, Town of Minto. The owner left the van keys with it, along with her purse while doing the chores on the property. She returned to where it was parked and noticed it gone. It was recovered four days later in another city.
Stolen vehicle are often used to commit other crimes and police are urging all residents to lock their vehicle at all times.
Here are some tips to prevent you from becoming a victim:
Lock vehicle doors and remove the keys
Never leave a running vehicle unattended
Roll up the windows
Remove valuables from your vehicle
Park in well-lit areas with high traffic.
Clean out your garage and park your vehicle in it – locking your vehicle and the garage door.
