POLICE UNCOVER MARIHUANA SHIPPING ENTERPRISE

(ORILLIA, ON) – Three Ontario residents face charges following an investigation by members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau and the United States Department of Homeland Security, Buffalo and Detroit – Border Enforcement Security Task Force (BEST), Chicago – Homeland Security Investigations, and US Customs and Border Protection in Buffalo and Detroit.

On November 1, 2013, United States Customs and Border Protection seized 70.76 kilograms (156 pounds) of marihuana concealed within a commercial load of frozen vegetables at the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit, Michigan. The estimated value of the marihuana was $390,000. The cargo was destined for Chicago, Illinois.

During the month of November, OPP and United States law enforcement authorities in Buffalo, Detroit, and Chicago continued to investigate Busy Bee Express Limited of Toronto and those individuals believed to be responsible for exporting the marihuana.

Police executed Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA) search warrants at two Greater Toronto area addresses and seized a number of items to further the investigation, including more than $19,000 in cash.

Three people have been charged by the OPP with the following offences:

1) Yuliya V. GRYNCHENKO, aged 53 years, of Toronto:

Cause Forged Document to be Used (CC)
Possession of Marihuana, over 3 Kilograms, for the Purpose of Trafficking (CDSA)
Export Marihuana, over 3 Kilograms (CDSA)

2) Ruslan Alexandrovich KORLYAKOV; aged 41 years, of Markham:

Possession of Property Obtained By Crime, Proceeds of Crime, Currency (CC)
Cause Forged Document to be Used (CC)
Possession of Marihuana, over 3 Kilograms, for the Purpose of Trafficking (CDSA)
Export Marihuana, over 3 Kilograms (CDSA)

3) Marina DEDKOVSKI, aged 38 years, of Markham:

Possession of Property Obtained By Crime, Proceeds of Crime, Currency (CC)
Cause Forged Document to be Used (CC)
Possession of Marihuana, over 3 Kilograms, for the Purpose of Trafficking (CDSA)
Export Marihuana, over 3 Kilograms (CDSA)

All of the accused were taken into custody on December 3, 2013 by members of the OPP Aurora Detachment and Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau and will be attending a bail hearing.
