Police Unable To Find 400 Pound Pig In Middle Of Roadway

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment investigated an animal complaint after being called to a Haldimand Road 9, Haldimand County, Ontario address.

On Sunday, May 22, 2016 at approximately 5:10 a.m., police attended the address after a motorist contacted police after a motorist encountered an animal on the roadway.

Through the course of investigation, it was determined that a motorist was travelling on Haldimand Road 9 when they encountered a 400 pound pig walking on the roadway. The driver avoided the animal and contacted police.

Police attended the area however the animal could not be located.

Police are urging all drivers to expect the unexpected and to be aware of their surroundings at all times. Drivers need to focus their attention on their driving ability and avoid any unnecessary distractions.

“It’s not always possible to avoid a collision with an animal, particularly if it suddenly runs onto the road. But drivers can take sensible precautions to minimize the risk of a collision. Motorists are being urged to drive with caution and within the speed limit and to be aware of their surroundings at all times.
