(GODERICH, ON) – A 27-year-old male from Watford is facing several charges following a dangerous driving incident that took place on November 1st, 2016. Shortly before 4:00 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police officers (OPP) received two reports about an erratic driver that was travelling southbound on Bluewater Veteran’s Highway (Highway #21) toward Goderich.
Witnesses observed the suspect vehicle, a southbound Ford Fusion travelling in the oncoming lane for a few hundred metres forcing numerous vehicles off the roadway. At one point the driver pulled over and spoke with one of the witnesses however he continued on driving into Goderich.
A Huron OPP officer spotted the suspect vehicle on Bayfield Road in Goderich and was able to complete a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the male driver the investigating officer observed the driver to be displaying several signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Driving and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment where he was subjected to testing by a Drug Recognition Evaluator (DRE). The driver completed the tests and his ability to drive a motor vehicle was deemed to be impaired by drug.
A driver’s licence query also revealed the driver was driving with a suspended driver’s licence. As a result, Dylan KAZUK, 27 years of age from Watford, ON has been charged with Dangerous Driving, Impaired Driving, Drive While Under Suspension and Fail to Have Insurance Card. His court date has been scheduled for December 19, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. In addition to his charges, his vehicle was impounded for seven days and he received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension.
