(Ottawa) – On Monday, May 11, 2015, Ottawa Police Patrol officers responded to a disturbance call in the 1200 block of Donald Street.
As a result of the ensuing investigation by the Drug Unit, 2 adult males, 2 male young offenders and 1 female young offender were arrested and charged.
Included in the items seized as part of the investigation were:
An unloaded 32 calibre American Bulldog revolver
11.5 grs of crack cocaine valued at $2300.00
49.5 Valium pills valued at $490.00
0.2 grs cocaine valued at $20.00
Pierce JAMES (m) 18 years old and Amanuel MENGESHA (m), 20 years old, both of Ottawa, were charged jointly with:
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance (crack cocaine) under Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule IV Substance (valium) under Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Pierce JAMES is also charged with:
Failure to comply with a Probation Order
Possession of Proceeds of Crime under $5000.00 under Sec 355(b) of the Criminal Code
A 15 year old male Young Offender of Ottawa is charged with:
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule IV Substance (valium) under Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Possession of a Weapon under sec 88(1) of the Criminal Code
Fail to comply with a Probation Order under sec 137 YCJA
A 16 year old male Young Offender of Ottawa is charged with:
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance (crack cocaine) under Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule IV Substance (valium) under Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
A 16 year old female Young Offender of Ottawa is charged with:
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance (crack cocaine) under Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule IV Substance (valium) under Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Pierce JAMES was held for Show Cause and released on a Recognizance with a court date of May 20, 2015 and Amanuel MENGESHA was held for Show Cause and released on a Recognizance with a court date of May 20, 2015.
The 15 year old male Young Offender was held for Show Cause and remains in custody with a court date of May 14, 2015; the 16 year old male Young Offender was held for Show Cause and released on a Recognizance with a court date of May 19, 2015; and the 16 year old female Young Offender was held for Show Cause and released on an Undertaking with a court date of May 19, 2015.
The Ottawa Police Guns and Gangs Unit is continuing the investigation and further charges may be laid in relation to firearms.
