(THUNDER BAY, ON) On Saturday, March 21, 2015 at approximately 5:15 pm, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting RIDE spot checks on Highway 590 and Loghrin Road.
A male driver of a blue Hyundai SUV approached the RIDE spot check and as officers were speaking with the driver they detected an odour of Marihuana emitting from the vehicle. Upon further questioning and investigation, an officer placed the male under arrest and requested the male to put the vehicle in park and exit the vehicle. At this time the driver fled the scene. Officers began to pursue the vehicle with lights and siren activated in an attempt to stop the vehicle but the driver fled the area.
The driver is described as a Caucasian male with a red, well-trimmed beard, may have been tall in stature. He was wearing a dark ball cap, a blue sweater and jeans.
The vehicle is described as a newer model Hyundai SUV with camouflage seat covers and an Ontario licence plate.
