ABANDONED SAIL BOAT WASHES ASHORE
(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) The Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a sail boat that was found drifting south of Sauble Beach. The sail boat was grounded on the shoreline by strong west to south west winds.
The vessel is described as 26 feet long, white in colour, 3 pin stripes along the side blue-red-blue, Spirit Catcher on the bow, no identification numbers, the anchor was deployed, the sails were stowed, no electronics were turned on and it was flying a Canadian Flag. Officers found a Fathers Day card for the year 2013 with the name “GEORGE†on it.
The vessel may have been observed early on the morning of July 10, 2013 with sails stowed in the Saugeen River at Southampton, moving towards Lake Huron. It is resting on the shoreline just north of the Saugeen River.
