(ADELAIDE-METCALFE, ON) – One elderly female has been airlifted to hospital and three others have been transported by land ambulance for injuries sustained in a serious three vehicle collision on Centre Road just south of Highway 402 in the Municipality of Adelaide-Metcalfe.
On August 15, 2013 at approximately 2:06 p.m. Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), fire and paramedics responded to the collision. A black Chrysler car from Michigan exited eastbound Highway 402 at Centre Road. The car entered onto Centre Road when it collided with a dump truck. A northbound water tanker truck was also involved in the collision.
The female was extricated from the vehicle by fire crews and was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries. An elderly male was transported with serious injuries to hospital.
The drivers of the trucks were transported to Strathroy hospital with minor injuries and have since been released.
The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) Team are on scene to conduct a thorough investigation. Centre Road will be closed from Second Street to the north side of the Highway 402 bridge for several hours until the investigation is complete. Police will update once the road is re-opened.
The identities of the injured are being withheld pending next of kin notification.
Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area for the safety of all involved.
