POLICE INVESTIGATE FATAL COLLISION

(ADELAIDE-METCALFE, ON) On Tuesday October 1, 2013 at 7:23 a.m. members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Middlesex County Fire Department and Middlesex-London Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Calvert Drive and Thames Road located in the Municipality of Adelaide Metcalfe.

Police are currently in the preliminary stages of the investigation, but have confirmed that one adult female has died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision. A second adult has been transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Members of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) team have been deployed to the scene to assist with the investigation. The intersection has been closed to the public, as police work to determine the factors involved in this collision.

Calvert Drive between Winter Drive and Burdon Road will be closed for further investigation and is expected to remain closed for approximately the next six hours.

Various members of Emergency Services are currently on scene assisting with this investigation. Police are asking the public to be extremely cautious when travelling through the area, due to the heavy fog.

The identity of the deceased party is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.
