Police Inspect 20 Vessels – All Pass

(LAKE HURON, ON) – On May 26th, 2012, the South Bruce OPP Vessel HH Graham was patrolling the waters of Lake Huron during the Fish Kincardine derby. Officers inspected 20 vessels during the course of the shift and each vessel was found to have the proper safety equipment on board, no alcohol and each fisherman was properly licensed. South Bruce OPP Detachment Commander Chris Gilpin is pleased with these results, “The South Bruce OPP marine unit conducted a lot of vessel inspections on May 26th, 2012 and found no one taking unnecessary risks. I congratulate the vessel operators for their compliance and encourage them to continue this throughout the 2012 boating season. A sober, proficient operator with a properly equipped vessel is the safest way to enjoy a day on the water. Carrying the required safety equipment, including a property fitting PFD for each occupant, each time you leave the dock can make the difference between a rescue and a recovery if you run into trouble. Remember to leave the “beer on the pier” so we can have a safe and enjoyable summer on the water.” Anyone interested in more information on boating safety can check the Transport Canada website at http://www.boatingsafety.gc.ca.
