The Owen Sound Police Service has arrested and charged an Owen Sound woman for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Operate a Motor Vehicle with over 80 mgs of Alcohol and Theft Under $5000.
Shortly before 9:00 p.m., the Owen Sound Police Service was called to the L.C.B.O. in Owen Sound for a report of a female who was refused service as a result of her intoxicated state. Prior to police arrival, staff called in a second time to report that the female had just stolen a bottle of wine and had
fled the store.
Police responded within minutes and located the female in her vehicle, attempting to leave the L.C.B.O. parking lot. Officers blocked in the female’s vehicle with their marked police cruisers and stopped the female from fleeing. Police investigated and determined the female to be impaired by alcohol. The driver was taken into custody and brought to the Owen Sound Police Station to provide samples of her breath to a qualified technician. The results of the samples provided were more than
two times the legal limit of alcohol allowed.
The 66 year old woman’s vehicle was impounded by police and the stolen bottle of alcohol was returned to the L.C.B.O.. The accused was released from custody once sober and given a court date to speak to the charges against her.
