POLICE CONTINUE TO INVESTIGATE FATAL COLLISION

(Pembroke, ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is continuing to investigate a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on Hwy 17 just west of Hwy 41. The collison was reported at approximately 7:00 am on the 27th of October 2014.

Investigation indicates that three passenger vehicles were westbound on Hwy 17 and a log truck was east bound. The log truck was carrying logs. A collison occurred between the log truck pup trailer, and one of the westbound vehicles. The driver of this passenger vehicle, the lone occupant, 51 year old Andrew Gribbon of Pembroke was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other two passenger vehicles were indirectly involved. No other injuries were reported. A 43 year old male of Desbarats, Ontario was the driver of the log truck.

Hwy 17 was closed between Hwy 41 and “B” Line Road in Laurentian Valley Twp. The Hwy has reopened.

OPP Technical Traffic Collison investigators (TTCI) as well as Commercial Motor Vehicle Collison investigators are assisting with the investigation. P/C Wayne Desjardins is the investigating officer. Laurentian Valley Twp. Fire Department, City of Pembroke Fire Department as well as County of Renfrew Paramedic Services assisted at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
