In efforts to disprove the Wingham Phantom’s claims, I have acquired a
copy of the police budget. I wanted to see if there were any
changes in volume of fuel consumed before and after this gas theft allegedly
happened. There is a significant drop in fuel cost, and estimated
liters used, from the 2007-2008 budget years. This fuel
consumption difference may be due to variety of reasons, change in
patrolling policy, trips out of town for court etc.
To estimate the number of liters used, I got an average fuel price for
each year, and used the cost of fuel to calculate the estimated volume
of fuel consumed.
