Plane Crash In Six Mile Lake

(GEORGIAN BAY TOWNSHIP, ON) – On August 5th, 2013 at approximately 2:00 p.m., members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Georgian Bay Fire Department and Simcoe County Paramedic Service responded to report that a plane had crashed into Six Mile Lake.

An initial OPP investigation revealed a 57 year old male pilot was in the process of taking off in his Challenger Ultra-Light aircraft when for a yet to be determined reason the Ultra-light lost lift and went into Six Mile Lake just west of the end of Pond Road.

The single occupant a 57 year old male pilot from Brampton received minor injuries in this collision.

The investigation into this collision is ongoing.

The Transport Safety Board has been advised.
