(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON) – On April 13, 2015 at approximately 11:10 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Traffic Enforcement Team (HET) were dispatched to a possible impaired driver on Wellington Road, in the City of London, Ontario.
Police initiated a traffic stop near Dearness Drive, and determined the male driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening device was administered, and the driver registered a “fail”.
The driver was placed under arrest, and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment for further breath tests.
As a result of the investigation, Pieter VAN-DYK, age 63, from Central Elgin, Ontario, has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle (alcohol), and driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood.
The accused was released by way of a Promise to Appear, and is scheduled to answer to the charges in a London court on April 30, 2015.
