The West Grey Police Service would like to warn business owners of a fraud. The suspect(s) ( from another country) attempts to access the business’s voicemail system. Most systems have a 4 digit (number) password and you can have X amount of tries to a get the password right in order to access the system.
Once the system is accessed if the phone has call forwarding capabilities then the suspect has a way of making numerous calls to another country using this feature which the business has to pay for. They can make thousands of calls per hour.
Businesses should if they have a voicemail system with call forwarding capabilities ensure that their employees have
1) 6 DIGIT PASSWORDS
2) 2) Only 4 attempts before the system locks them out.
