(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On December 17, 2014, just before 10:00 a.m., a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer conducted a traffic stop on a Ford pickup for a traffic violation, on Highway 401 eastbound near Kennesserie Road.
During subsequent OPP traffic investigation, the driver was unable to provide the officer with a permit and insurance card for the vehicle. Further to that, the officer detected a strong odour of what was believed to be marihuana, from inside the vehicle. A vehicle search was conducted and resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana.
As a result, the driver, 50 year old Phillip BRADY, from Charing Cross, has been charged with the following:
Possession of Marihuana Under 30 grams, under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Dirty Plate, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Drive Motor Vehicle No Currently Validated Permit, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Drive Motor Vehicle No Validation On Plate, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Fail To Surrender Permit For Motor Vehicle, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Fail To Surrender Insurance Card, under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
The driver is scheduled to appear in a Chatham court on January 29, 2015, to answer to the charges.
