(ORILLIA, ON) – Members with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Anti-Rackets Branch, Health Fraud Investigation Unit have charged a man in connection with an investigation into the fraudulent billings by a pharmacist to the Ontario Public Drug Benefits Program.
The Health Fraud Investigation Unit received a complaint from the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, Ontario Public Drug Benefits Program after discrepancies were noted in the purchase and sale of nine drug products at two Toronto area pharmacies. From the investigation that followed, it has been determined that the alleged fraud is in excess of $250,000 and the involved pharmacies have since changed ownership.
Magdy Salama – age 59 – is charged with two counts of Fraud Over $5000.00. Police have been unable to locate Salama and arrest warrants have been issued.
