Peter Joel HOPKINS – Assault Casing Bodily Harm

(WALPOLE ISLAND, ON) – On Sunday April 26, 2015 at about 2:30 pm members of the Walpole Island Police and Ontario Provincial Police Services had been summoned to the Thunderbird Plaza located on Walpole Island to investigate an assault.

Investigation did reveal that a 35 year old male had attended the Thunderbird Plaza located at Walpole Island (First Nation), Ontario. It was at this time the male approached the victim and punched him in the facial area. As a result of this alleged assault the victim suffered significant injury forcing him to attend a nearby Hospital in order to seek medical attention.

The Thunderbird Plaza was open for business at the time of the alleged assault. Due to the seriousness of the victim’s injuries, community members felt that a weapon may have been involved. The Walpole Island Police wish to ensure the community that the use of any kind of weapon has yet to be determined and or verified.

Peter Joel HOPKINS 35 years of age of Moravian First Nation has been charged criminally with- Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Breach of Probation and Cause a Disturbance. He was set to appear for a Bail Hearing on April 27, 2015 at the Sarnia Court House in order to answer to the allegations.
