(ORILLIA, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit (Project “P”), the Orillia OPP Detachment and the Midland Police Service have arrested and charged an Orillia man following a one week internet luring investigation.
On December 23 2015, the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit and the Orillia OPP Detachment, arrested a man as he attended a local establishment in Orillia where he believed a 15 year old boy was waiting for him. As a result of this arrest a cellular telephone pertinent to the investigation was seized.
On December 23, 2015, police arrested Shawn Andrew HARRINGTON, 29 years old of Orillia, Ontario and charged him with three counts of Luring a Child on the Internet and two counts of Breaching a Prohibition Order.
The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing today, December 29, 2015, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie, Ontario.
The investigation is continuing.
