(SEVERN TWP, ON) – On March 26, 2014, the Orillia OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) received a complaint involving sexual offences and the internet from a parent of a young child who resides in the United States.
An eleven year old child was chatting on a youth oriented chat line from her residence in Maryland, USA. Fortunately the mother of the victim made it a practice to monitor her child’s computer use on the site.
Inappropriate conversation and images were received from the adult male and the parent contacted her local police who advised her to contact the OPP. With the information provided, the suspect was identified.
On April 7, 2014, officers from the Orillia OPP Crime Unit, the Child Sexual Exploitation Unit and the Technological Crime Unit executed a Search Warrant and arrested the suspect at his residence.
Jonathan MARTIN, age 34 of Severn Township has been arrested and was held for a bail hearing. He has been charged with the following offences:
Luring a Person Under 16 Years of Age
Indecent Exposure to a Person Under 16 Years of Age
Make Sexually Explicit Material available to a Person under 16 Years of Age
