(Orillia, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Orillia Crime Unit assisted by the Technology Crime Unit and the Child Sexual Exploitation Unit have arrested and charged a Orillia man following an internet investigation.
On August 22, 2016 members the Orillia OPP assisted by the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, and the OPP Technological Crime Unit executed a search warrant at a Orillia residence. As a result of this investigation, 2 laptop computers and storage devices were seized and are pending forensic analysis.
Frederick MUNRO, age 63 years, of Orillia Ontario is charged with
Make Available child pornography contrary to section 163.1 (3) of the Criminal Code
Possession of child pornography contrary to section 163.1 (4) of the Criminal Code (2 counts)
Accessing child pornography contrary to section 163.1 (4.1) of the criminal code
He is also charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act with possession.
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia, Ontario on the 23th day of August 2016. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia, Ontario on the 13th September 2016.
The investigation is continuing.
