(STRONG TWP, ON) – On Friday, December 11, 2015, the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) including its Criminal Investigation Unit, investigated an allegation of inappropriate sexual communication from a Strong Township man.
OPP conducted an investigation and as a result of that investigation police arrested and charged Brandon SCHMIDT, 26 of Strong Township with the following offences:
• Invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age (4 counts), contrary to section 152 of the Criminal Code (CC).
• Luring a person under 16 years of age by means of telecommunication (4 counts), contrary to section 172.1 of the Criminal Code (CC).
He was held in custody for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Monday, December 14, 2015 in Parry Sound, Ontario.
The accused is actively involved in minor hockey, the Junior A level and within the private hockey industry in the communities of Almaguin Highlands and Powassan.
