(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) – On Thursday April 21, 2016, shortly after 4 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers along with the North Perth Fire Department were dispatched to a house fire at 114 Arthur St. in Trowbridge.
Upon emergency services arriving at the scene, the home was found to be engulfed by fire. The fire department extinguished the blaze and attempts were made to locate the lone resident of the home.
An investigator of the Ontario Fire Marshall’s (OFM) office attended the scene and on the morning of Friday April 22, 2016, a deceased body was located within the burned residence. The body was transported to a London Hospital where on Saturday April 23, 2016, a post mortem examination was conducted.
As a result of the examination, the deceased was identified as the homeowner of the residence; 55-year-old James GREYDANUS. The cause of death was determined to be “smoke inhalation”.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the OFM.
