(HAMILTON TWP, ON) – On July 18, 2015 at 8:55pm Northumberland OPP received a driving complaint involving a silver Acura in the Centreton area. The vehicle was reportedly tailgating other vehicles at inconsistent speeds. Police located the car on County Road 45 and determined that the driver had been drinking. He was arrested and taken to the Cobourg detachment for further tests.
As a result of further investigation, the accused driver was found to be using a false name. Michael BROOKINGS age 28 of Whitby, Ontario faces additional charges of Obstruct Police Officer, Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice and Driving while Disqualified as well as the original charges of Impaired Care & Control of a motor vehicle and Having Care & Control of a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol content exceeded 80mg in 100ml of blood.
BROOKINGS was held for a bail hearing scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on July 22, 2015.
