PEMBROKE DISTURBANCE LEADS TO ARRESTS AND CHARGES

(Pembroke, ON) – On December 25, 2013 at approximately 6:30pm, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Upper Ottawa Valley detachment responded to a report of a disturbance
at a residence on MacKay Street in the City of Pembroke.

As a result of their investigation, police charged Vincent MARTIN, aged 37 years of Pembroke, with Mischief. He was released and scheduled to appear in Pembroke court on January 28, 2014.

As officers conducted the above investigation, a second male party became involved and assaulted one of the officers. Police subsequently charged Michael MARCEL, aged 39 years of Pembroke, with Assaulting Police and released him to appear in Pembroke court on March 18, 2014. As this individual sustained injuries during the arrest and was taken to hospital for treatment, the Province’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) is investigating and has invoked its mandate.
