(Leamington, ON) – The Leamington O P P are currently investigating a fatal crash involving a motor vehicle versus a pedestrian.
At approximately 8:00pm a 54 years old Leamington man was walking north bound on Fox Street, Leamington near Askew Street when he was struck by a north bound Chev Cavalier being driven by a 18 years old Leamington man, the 54 years old pedestrian was transported to an area hospital where he died of his injuries sustained at the crash.
The investigation is currently at the initial stages and Leamington OPP have the driver of the Chev Cavalier in custody with pending charges. Essex County OPP Technical Traffic Investigators are currently on scene, and the area of Fox Street and Askew Street will be closed for approximately 4-5 hours while the investigation continues.
UPDATE – The Intersection of Fox and Askew was closed until 12:30am.
The Driver of the Chev Cavalier, an 18 years old Leamington man has been charged with Impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death.
The name of the deceased will not be released at this time, until next of kin has been notified.
The name of the charged person will not be released until he is formally arraigned in Provincial Court.
