(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County detachment investigated a fatal motor vehicle collision at an Ireland Road, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario address.
On Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at approximately 5:18 p.m., OPP and Norfolk County Paramedics were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at an Ireland Road address.
Through investigation it has been determined that an 83-year-old female of Norfolk County, Ontario was crossing eastbound on Ireland Road just south of Jones Avenue. A motor vehicle being operated by an 80-year-old male of Norfolk County, Ontario was travelling northbound on Ireland Road when the vehicle and pedestrian collided.
As a result of the collision, 83-year-old Rose RAJTROWSKI of Norfolk County, Ontario suffered life threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the attending coroner.. The driver of the vehicle did not suffer any injuries.
Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting with the investigation.
Ireland Road was closed between Lynndale Road and Victoria Street and Jones Avenue was closed at Mann Avenue to allow for police investigation.
The investigation is continuing.
