Pedestrian Struck While Helping Turtle

(Otonabee-South Monaghan Township, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews were dispatched to assist a pedestrian after a collision on Bensfort Road last night before 10:00pm.

A female pedestrian had exited her vehicle to assist a turtle when she was struck by a passing vehicle. The pedestrian, a 44 year old woman from Otonabee-South Monaghan Township, was transported to a Toronto area hospital with serious injuries.

Bensfort Road was closed for more than 5 hours while OPP members trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene.
